Tell us about Shadow & Line – what do you make and sell?

My business is called Shadow & Line and I handmake contemporary jewellery, mostly using 100% recycled sterling silver and traditional silversmithing techniques. I am inspired by urban architecture, reflections and shadows and often use photographs I’ve taken previously to inform new minimal shapes and textures in my pieces.

How did you get started?

I completed an Intro to Silversmithing evening course with Noctua Jewellery in 2018 and my passion basically spiralled from there. When covid hit I carried on making jewellery, mainly to keep my sane whilst home schooling our two boys (!) and then enjoyed it so much that I decided to start taking orders from friends and family.

What does the GoodMarket mean to you and your business?

My first market was actually with the GoodMarket, it was also their very first one too, back in June 2021. I was so nervous beforehand, but as soon as I was there and all set up, I immediately loved it, and still do to this day. GoodMarket are always so supportive and they’ve really helped me and my small business grow so much.

Can you describe the atmosphere of a GoodMarket event?

There’s always such a relaxed, well organised and friendly atmosphere at and I’ve made some amazing friends along the way from doing lots of their events.

What would you say to someone thinking of coming down to GoodMarket XL?

Go for it!! You will have such a fun and inspiring time. There will be so many small businesses there will their handmade, hand-designed products alongside tasty food and great music. I’ll see you there!
